Connecting a domain from GoDaddy, Namecheap, or any registrar
Step-by-step instructions for pointing a domain you already own at your EasyWebie site by changing nameservers at any registrar.
In this guide
Before you start — what you need
To connect an existing domain to EasyWebie, you need:
You do not need to transfer the domain away from your current registrar. You only change where the domain's nameservers point — the domain stays registered where it is.
Getting your EasyWebie nameservers
EasyWebie gives you two nameserver addresses that must be entered at your registrar.
Copy both nameserver addresses. You will paste them into your registrar's control panel in the steps below.
Changing nameservers on GoDaddy
GoDaddy will ask you to confirm the change. Click Confirm. GoDaddy propagation typically takes 1–4 hours.
Changing nameservers on Namecheap
Namecheap typically propagates within 30 minutes to a few hours.
Changing nameservers on Google Domains / Squarespace Domains
Google Domains was acquired by Squarespace. Depending on when your domain was registered, it may be in the Google or Squarespace interface.
Google Domains: Settings → DNS → Custom name servers → Add the two EasyWebie nameservers → Switch to these nameservers.
Squarespace Domains: Domains → select your domain → DNS Settings → Nameservers → Use custom nameservers → enter both addresses → Save.
Both typically propagate within 1–3 hours.
On any other registrar
The process is the same on any registrar. Look for:
If you can not find it, search: "change nameservers [your registrar name]" — every major registrar has a support article on this.
How long until it is live?
After you save the nameserver change at your registrar, DNS propagation begins. This is not instant — DNS changes spread across thousands of servers worldwide.
During this time, your domain status in EasyWebie shows "Pending". Your free easywebie.com subdomain continues to work normally — visitors using the old domain may see the old site while propagation completes.
Once the domain is active, the dashboard shows "Active" and a green indicator.
Troubleshooting — if the domain does not connect
If the domain still shows Pending after 24 hours:
Check: are the nameservers correct? Go back to your registrar and confirm the two nameservers you entered exactly match what EasyWebie showed — no typos, no extra spaces.
Check: did the change actually save? Some registrars require an additional confirmation click. Reload the DNS settings page and verify the custom nameservers are showing as saved.
Check: is the domain locked? If the domain is transfer-locked, nameserver changes may not propagate. Unlock it at your registrar, wait 10 minutes, then check again.
Still stuck? Open a Support ticket from your dashboard with the domain name and your registrar name — the support team can check the DNS status directly.
